Every Summer for the past five years I have worked in a busy sea-side cafe in South West Wales. The village is the epitome of a British holiday with sand castles, rounders tournaments and children running in and out of the sea. The tourists change on a Saturday to Saturday basis, but there remains the red and yellow constant, The Lifeguards. These brave young people at the water’s edge keep the coast safe and are an important reminder of how perilous the sea can be.
